SEO King changed all my product meta titles on Shopify β how to restore them
SEO King uses AI to generate meta titles in bulk across your whole catalog, and a single bulk run (or its keyword-based template) can replace the page-title tags you wrote by hand on hundreds of products at once. Those are real Shopify SEO fields β the title_tag metafield β and Shopify keeps no version history of them, so there is no native undo and no record of what each title said before. One bulk generation can quietly flatten months of hand-tuned titles.
If you didn't already have a backup, those old values are gone β Shopify keeps no history.
The steps below recover what you can. To make the next time a 1-click undo instead of hours of CSV work: a daily snapshot of every SEO field. Free to monitor, no card β and SEO Vault only reads your store unless you click restore.
Stop the source first: in SEO King, pause any running bulk job and turn off the AI meta-title rule or template before it re-applies β and confirm it didn't also bulk-write your meta descriptions or alt-text in the same pass.
Re-import from a pre-change export: if you have a CSV from before the run (Shopify product export or Matrixify), re-import only the SEO Title / title_tag column to put the originals back.
If you have no export, recover what search still shows: the old titles usually persist as the clickable blue link in Google for a few days after a change β and in Search Console > Performance, and in archived copies at web.archive.org β so grab those before Google recrawls, then rewrite the highest-traffic pages first and request re-indexing of just those URLs.
Going forward, keep a daily snapshot of every meta title (products AND collections) so a single bulk generation is flagged the day it runs β with the app responsible named β and yesterday's titles restore in one click instead of a page-by-page rebuild.

SEO Vault keeps a daily snapshot of every SEO field on your store β meta titles, descriptions, alt-text, tags, handles (products AND collections) β and emails you the moment something changes in bulk, with the likely app responsible. One click restores yesterday's state, just the SEO fields. Free to monitor and get alerted; $14/mo for 1-click restore.
