Why your Shopify meta title keeps reverting โ€” and how to lock it

You fix a meta title, and a day later it's wrong again. An app with an active template or autopilot is re-applying its own version on a schedule, overwriting your manual edit each run.

If you didn't already have a backup, those old values are gone โ€” Shopify keeps no history.

The steps below recover what you can. To make the next time a 1-click undo instead of hours of CSV work: a daily snapshot of every SEO field. Free to monitor, no card โ€” and SEO Vault only reads your store unless you click restore.

Step by step

  1. Identify which app owns the title pattern (SEO suites with 'templates' or 'auto-optimize' are the usual cause) and turn that specific rule off.
  2. Re-apply your correct title after disabling the rule, or the next run wins again.
  3. Confirm the storefront title AND the page <title> tag both stick โ€” apps sometimes template only one.
  4. Snapshot titles daily so you can see exactly when and by which app a value flips back.
