How to undo a bulk edit that wiped your Shopify SEO

Shopify's native bulk editor has no rollback โ€” a single save is irreversible. Many merchants lose meta titles, descriptions, tags and handles this way.

If you didn't already have a backup, those old values are gone โ€” Shopify keeps no history.

The steps below recover what you can. To make the next time a 1-click undo instead of hours of CSV work: a daily snapshot of every SEO field. Free to monitor, no card โ€” and SEO Vault only reads your store unless you click restore.

Step by step

  1. Don't make more changes โ€” every edit moves you further from the good state.
  2. Check if any backup app captured the fields before the edit (most full-store backups skip alt-text and SEO metafields).
  3. Restore from a snapshot taken before the bulk edit if you have one.
  4. Set up daily SEO-field snapshots so the next bulk-edit mistake is a one-click undo, not a rebuild.
